Also for what it's worth, the laundry room drain for the clothes washer is also an open-ended pipe so I don't think it should have air lock problems? I went to Home Despot and they have air admittance valves, but reading the instructions they're supposed to be installed as high as possible in the stack. I assume he installed it because he was having soil pipe drain problems. It's definitely supposed to be some weird version of a vent or trap and it's open-ended. Since it's a crawlspace, its a "might as well do all the work while I'm in here" sort of deal.Ībout halfway down the 3" horizontal sewer line is a 1.5" vertical pipe which ends in some homemade zigzag janky thing the previous owner installed. My sewer line in my crawlspace has a pinhole leak so I need to replace a section of pipe.
